A designer in today's world, in my opinion,
should have a social, environmental, and positive
agenda for the things they create.
In this project, I wanted to show the face behind
our clothes by telling the true story of a girl who got into
a sweatshop and the larger story of the textile industry.
End 15\7
An installation that examines the behind-the-scenes
and working conditions of the fabric industry's sweatshops.
Along with the story of Nasreen Sheikh,
who was 10 years old when she was forced
to work in a sweatshop for about 15 hours a day,
7 days a week under infidel conditions.
I took the photos in one of Israel's last remaining textile factories.
An old, non-renewable factory that will be decommissioned in the next two years.
Materials: Natural linen fabric (80/50 cm),
wooden hangers hung on a clothes rack.
Final Project, 4th Year

Nasreen was 10 years old when she began working in a sweatshop in the textile industry. 15 hours per day, 7 days a week for less than $2 per day.

Nasreen's Story
Nasreen is a survivor of child labor from
an undocumented village on the
border of India and Nepal.
She started working in a textile sweatshop
in Kathmandu when she was 9-10 years old.
As an undocumented child, she has no birth certificate,
no idea how old she is, no surname, no bank account,
no credit card, can't register for school or work at a
legitimate job, no car license, and other issues.
The Textile Industry's Story
I wanted to show how the daily life
of the workers in the industry looks like
and how basic human rights are ignored.
By showing statistics, illustrations,
redesigning icons and more.
The shirt appears to remind people to think before purchasing a shirt.
This is how a laundry icon should appear to remind us of what lies beneath the fashion world's strict rules.

Every step of the shirt-making process involves the use of dangerous chemicals.

Call to Action
I wanted people to be able to participate in the installation
by taking pictures of themselves and sharing them.
Follow the account, tag it and so people will be exposed to it.
The idea is that every shirt has a story behind it,
and when you buy one, you become a part of that story.
I created an Instagram account and designed it
to reach as many people as possible.
On Instagram, you can find advice on how to
properly care for our clothes, how to wash them,
and what to consider when shopping for clothes.
